A collaboration between Red Stitch Writers & St Michael’s Grammar School
With Dion Mills, Ben Prendergast, Yesse Spence, Rosie Traynor & St Michael’s Grammar School actors
A first-time partnership between St Michael’s Grammar School and Red Stitch Writers, The Flock and the Nest is part-scripted and part-improvised, bringing together 12 students and four professional adult actors.
Ebony, recently widowed, lives on a remote rural property with her young son, Terry, her wayward brother Mark and his boys from a long ago failed marriage. They are lost and left alone. That is until the Ebony’s sister-in-law, Niamh, visits from the inner-city suburbs of Melbourne, accompanied by her husband, Martin, and their brood of teenage girls. What starts as a holiday and family reunion soon falls apart, becoming a desperate fight for land and love waged in a haze of grief and ghosts.
The Flock and the Nest is a moving and arresting drama about the resilience and fragility of adults and youth in the face of loss and change.
