HAND TO GOD

By Robert Askins

Australian premiere

Nominated for 5 tony awards, and garnering ecstatic reviews, Hand To God is a wild, subversive, shocking and sidesplittingly funny black comedy that has made waves around the world.

In the tiny, conservative town of Cypress, Texas, the mild-mannered Jason is just trying to be a good boy. When he joins his mother Margery’s amateur puppetry group at the local church, Jason discovers a burgeoning talent for comedy. Finally, he’s found something he’s good at! However, Tyrone, his puppet, has other plans.

An irreverent, occasionally shocking, and perpetually hysterical romp to hell and back, Hand To God’s exploration of the ideas of faith, morality, and human nature will leave you sore with laughter.

"Hilarious, with the excellent cast embracing the ridiculous and really going to town on the caricature and physical comedy. Whyte and Speer's sado-masochistic antics are a scream, as is Piro's dorkiness and extreme lack of sexual appeal." - The Age

"Hand to God is a must-see show this season. If you’re looking for a reason to leave the kids at home, get to the theatre and share with them your best evil cackle."- Theatre AU
